About Maria

1trabalho.jpg

One afternoon at her mother's home in São Paulo, Brazil, Maria came upon an old window glass. The urge to paint came unexpectedly as a spontaneous act of self healing after a year of intense discoveries. That was how it began, what later was going to be discovered as one of her truest voices.

Graduated in Social Comunications, and working as a on screen producer within the field of cinema, Maria expressed herself through a diversity of means such as photography, accting singing, performance arts and contemporary dance, the last one comming all the way from childhood.

After an awakening experience at her early 20's, she was lead to a diferent path, diving upon the discovery of the Vaisnava culture, and later the Advaita Vedanta tradition.

Drawn to the practice of meditation, she began her own ongoing journey of exploration, understanding and integrating her new experience of self.

In the midst of her healing process, that afternoon in São Paulo took place, and painting became a joyfull form of exploration of her own  experience in a meditative and spontaneous way.

(first work, acrylic in 5mm glass panel 60x30cm)

''My mother is an artist, and I grew up among brushes and paints, but I'm not familiar with any training or tecnique. Each painting has a life of its own, and its form is discovered as it goes.''

''When painting, I allow the flow of energy to happen. Organizing the shapes and colors that are being revealed on the canvas.

I play with the different brush strokes, color combinations, patterns, themes and elements making the painting process an ongoing journey, where is up to the viewer to notice and explore (or not) the conections the mind and heart may present after is finished.

During this process many things can be learned, discovered and enjoyed. Like in life itself. ''

Today she's gratefull to live in the beautifull island of Moen in Denmark. Among nature she explores painting, writting and music.

Also offering individual sessions of Intuitive art  and abstract painting, sharing the method she used for healing and exploring the nature of her true Being.

''Sweet little canvas,

It talks to me.

Its sutil and childlike voice wispers its wants and needs.

Each flow fills me with delight.

So impetuous, it doesn’t really care about my ideas.

But it shows me like a mirror, who I really am.''
